Inactive Women Need About 1,600 To 2,000 Calories Per Day For Healthy Weight Management. I’m Way Over 3,000.

FB_IMG_1463260342420Do you know how horrible fruity cocktails are?! Rob and my favorite pastime is drinking. I mean we are not alcoholics by any means but we love to come home from work, sit on the porch, enjoy a cocktail or 3 and talk about our day. We’ve been pretty obsessed with rum runners these days. Lots of rum, banana liqueur, blackberry liqueur, OJ, pineapple juice and grenadine. I started to use S Health to track my activity and food intake and I really like it. I don’t have a Samsung phone but it is compatible with my Nexus. It opens your eyes even more. It made me think about what really contributed to my ridiculous weight gain and well, aside from the emotional binge eating, I almost would drink the amount of calories I need for the day in just cocktails!

Rum Runner

  • Captain Morgan Spiced Rum – 120 calories
  • Banana Liquor – 91 calories
  • Blackberry Liquor – 91 calories
  • OJ – 44 calories
  • Pineapple Juice – 52 calories
  • Grenadine Syrup – 27 calories

425 calories for one drink!

Let’s say I have about 3, that’s 1275 calories!

Based on USDA guidelines, inactive women need about 1,600 to 2,000 calories per day for healthy weight management.

So, lately a normal day would be

Breakfast – egg with cheese, toast, fruit, coffee            = 562 calories
Lunch – small sandwich and another cup of coffee      = 572 calories
Dinner – grilled BBQ wings, green beans and rice         = 855 calories
= 1989 calories

This looks pretty ideal right? This doesn’t include the little snacks I pick on like a couple pita chips in spinach artichoke dip, or a half an apple during the day and sometimes I would add or even replace the sandwich for lunch with a soup. Also, Breakfast doesn’t always have toast, sometimes I make smoothies. Now let’s add the 2-3 cocktails on top of all of this… 1989+ 1275 = 3264! No wonder I only lost 4 pounds since I started this”life changing journey”!

This app I’ve been using tracks the amount of steps I take. But I work in an office and often leave my phone in my desk so I cant track the many trips I take to the copy room or what not. And when I get home I leave my phone on the counter when I am running around cleaning or cooking. I want to track all of that! So far my average calories burnt from being active is only 316. maybe if I had one of those fitbit things I could see how I’m doing but they are so expensive!

This one looks pretty cool, has good reviews and is affordable:

I am determined to find my inner strength and do this! We all know we have it! I quit smoking for crying out loud. If I can do that I can do this. I need to find something to really push me and motivate me and make me want to try harder.

Step one: No more excuses!

I started some research for some tips and tricks to help find some motivation to keep us going! Stay tuned!
